The forest reserves of Terengganu are rich in flora and fauna. In the Pasir Raja Forest Reserve, near the border of the National Park, stands the world's largest and oldest Cengal tree.

Cengal, the Malay Hardwood or its scientific name Neobalanocarpus heimii is from the Dipterocarpaceae family and is commonly found in jungles of Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand.
