We all talk about using the right tools for the right job. And just as Surefire is synonymous with tactical lights, nothing beats Leatherman when it comes to Multi Tools. Back in 1983, Tim Leatherman and his team started this craze when they single-handedly created this market segment.

In 1998 Leatherman introduced the original Wave and makes an evolutionary leap in the multi-tool category by offering one-handed access to two locking blades (one straight edge, one serrated). The wave had been the new benchmark in multi tool design principle and went on to be become the most popular multi tool of all time.

By Lai Voon Loong

Even a downpour can’t get our columnist down when he’s out playing with a new toy – especially when the toy is weatherproof....

A few fortunate photo journalists were invited by Olympus Malaysia to the Langkawi International Maritime and Aviation (Lima) show earlier this month to review the brand’s all-new 10.1 Megapixel Olympus E3 digital SLR.

I've been thinking about Ikea's Swedish Meatballs. But never mind.

In an eBay bidding frenzy, I ended up with two Trangia 25 kits. This is the larger kit with 1.5 and 1.75l pots. Both sets were used, but were in excellent condition. One one set, a pot and pan doesn't look like it had been used, althogh it had some wear and scratches.

"BETTER safe than sorry" This is a motto you would want to stick closely to in those `hairy' situations. Since its illegal to pack a pistol, knives more than 11-cm in overall length and scheduled weapons for self-defence, what can you consider if your dear life counts on it?

Kershaw's answer to the need for a bigger, badder field knife, the Outcast is made from super strong D2 Tool Steel with a Titanium Nitride finish. Measuring 16" overall (with a 10" blade!) the Outcast is ready for the toughest clearing and camping tasks.

The handle is made from comfortable and durable double molded Santoprene with ergonomic palm swells and finger grooves. The flexible traction grooves gives each knife a "custom fit" that molds itself to the shape of the user's hand.
